Tool screws into spark plug hole to stop piston in a position nearing top dead centre. Use with item '4096' Timing Degree Wheel and rotate engine in reverse to reach piston stop again.
Take degree measurements of both stop positions and half the difference of degree readings is exact top dead centre.
